Fundraising Strategy
Organization Description The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; headquartered in White Plains; NY; with 68 chapters in the United States and Canada; is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. Team In Training (TNT); the world's largest endurance sports training program; provides personalized coaching; group training and support; and the chance to meet new people; while participants raise funds for blood cancer research and patient services. Since Team In Training began in 1988; more than 320;000 participants have raised more than $750 million through TNT to help find cures and better therapies for leukemia; lymphoma; Hodgkin's disease and myeloma; and provide information and support to patients and their families.
Project Opportunity LLS biggest challenge right now is to get people to sign up for Team in Training, the world’s largest endurance sports training program, with our limited marketing budget. We currently do a lot of grassroots marketing and would like to continue in this direction, but we would like some guidance on focusing on the right markets and target audience. Some issues we are dealing with include whether we should add more markets for the Team in Training program or additional sports. We also have issues getting people to attend our information sessions (even though we have a high percentage of individuals that sign up once they come to a session). These issues and others would be investigated by the NBI team to provide overall direction in our future marketing efforts for Team in Training.
